You have questions about the Cyclist Special… we have answers:

Q: What exactly does the $1,200 starting price point include?

$1,200 (plus local occupancy taxes) covers the cost of reserving the entire hotel including the sole use of all eight guest rooms, seven bathrooms and showers, the Great Room, the secure bicycle garage, and a Spaghetti Dinner on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

Q: How much would it cost to book this package on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

The Cyclist Special is meant to attract cyclists to our independent hotel on days which are otherwise difficult to book, but we can make arrangements for the hotel to be rented in whole on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. It would cost $1,800 (plus local occupancy taxes) to book the Cyclist Special on a weekend.

Q: What does “Restrictions Apply” mean?

Because the Cyclist Special is a special it’s availability is contingent on prior reservations made at a first come first serve basis. This means that any reservation made at any time for any room through our website or an online travel agent would effectively disrupt our ability to grantee the full use of the building for your group of cyclists.

All this means is that certain dates will be unavailable if reservations have already been made by other guests so it’s best to act now to reserve your date if you’re interested in the special.

Q: Does the Cyclist Special require a deposit?

Yes. We require a non-refundable deposit of half the cost due at the date of reservation.

Q: Can each rider included in our trip pay for their own portion of the cost?

We’re sorry but for the Cyclist Special we require that payment be processed from one location. If an alternative payment source is not specified by up to one week (seven whole days) before your reservation date the source which was used to collect the deposit will be set to automatically charge for the remainder of the cost of the reservation.

Q: What is included in this “Spaghetti Dinner”?

True to it’s name, the Spaghetti Dinner will include fresh made spaghetti pasta served with a choice of two red sauces: one containing meat and another without. Dinner will also include bread and/or rolls from our local bakery in addition to fresh mozzarella. These carbs will help to give your group the energy you’ll all need to complete your day’s ride with less fatigue in addition to being delicious!

Q: Does the Cyclist Special include breakfast?

The base price for the Cyclist Special does not include breakfast but for an additional $200 a hot buffet style breakfast of eggs, pancakes, sausage with bagels, cream cheese, and/or yogurt large enough to satisfy your whole group and can be prepared by our staff the morning of your departure.

Q: What time is dinner and breakfast?

Dinner can be prepared as early as 5pm and as late at 8pm. Breakfast can be prepared as early as 7am and as late as 10am.

Q: May we prepare our own dinner and breakfast?

Of course! Our Great Room includes a stove (no oven), refrigerator, microwave, toaster. sink, and a full array of cooking utensils if you would like to prepare your own foods anytime during your stay.

Q: If we intend on preparing our own dinner, will Traveler’s Rest offer a discount or prepare breakfast?

While you are permitted to ask that the Rest not prepare our Spaghetti Dinner, this can not be substituted for the breakfast nor is it’s removal subject to a discount. This dinner is meant to be an added value and our way of meeting and connecting with your group on behalf of Pittsburgh!

Q: What is the minimum number of people that have to be in our party to qualify for the Cyclist Special?

There is no minimum for the Cyclist Special. If you are traveling alone and would like to book our entire hotel to yourself we are happy to accommodate.

Q: What is the maximum number of people that can qualify for the Cyclist Special?

We suggest a maximum of seventeen guests so that each guest has their own bed, but the Cyclist Special includes access to ten twin beds, three full beds, and four queen beds spread across our eight rooms. Our hard maximum is twenty-four guests but that includes fourteen guests sharing a bed. If this isn’t an issue just let us know so we can ensure everyone has all the keys they need for their rooms.

Q: Our group includes individuals staying at other hotels in Pittsburgh. Are they permitted to spend time with us at the Rest?

The more the merrier. Because of proximity to the start of the GAP trail and our secure bike parking we make a perfect gathering spot for very large groups who are beginning the trek to Washington, D.C. All that said, these guests are not permitted to stay on the premises overnight nor are they permitted to make use of the kitchen or showers.

In the event that an invited guest of an individual staying at the Rest causes any damages or violates any hotel policies, fees and damages will be charged to the group account without discretion or negotiation. Judgement reserved to Traveler’s Rest staff and ownership.

Q: May we cancel the reservation for a refund before we’re expected to arrive?

We’re sorry we won’t get to see you! You are permitted to cancel up to one week (seven whole days) before your reservation date to receive a partial refund. We understand cancellations may be unavoidable which is why we maintain this policy, but please do keep in mind that we are a small, independently owned and operated business.

Unfortunately the deposit is not subject to a refund.

Q: May we park our motor vehicle inside the garage?

Unfortunately, our garage is not equipped to secure a motor vehicle, but bicycles with motor assist are welcome!
